Its not considered an unknown, but certainly out of the way. Coopers BBQ in Llano is a personal favorite. Anytime I get out that way I make it a point to stop by there and get the pork chop. Its a “wow” but the brisket and pork ribs are excellent also. Anyway, if you ever get down that way, check it out. You will not be disappointed.
I was surprised I was in this edition. I got a phone call from a friend of mine. I went out and bought 3 magazines. The truck that says MR-BBQ is my truck we are from Bartlett Texas. The picutre that says Hail to the chef is I. I hope you enjoyed my bbq that weekend at 34th Taylor International BBQ Cook Off. I hope to see you there again.
All of this talk about BBQ makes me hungry. But it makes me think about two of my favorite places for BBQ. Wright`s BBQ in Mexia, texas and Kirby`s BBQ in Mexia, Texas. If you get a chance please check them out you won’t be disappointed.
I wanted to let you know that I rode to all of the places listed in the BBQ issue. I had a blast. Thanks for the suggestions and the indigestion. It was not as easy as it looked. As stated in your article, some of the places are open on the weekends only. Some close early due to the fact that they have sold out. Some of the BBQ places that are normally open on certain days were closed due to the holidays. I rode to all of them but did not get to eat at all of them. I even made a couple of extra BBQ Stops stops along the way.
I made 6 separate road trips and rode to 9 BBQ joints. One trip, to Dallas and Tioga required an overnight stay. The rest were one day round trips. I covered about 2,373 miles of Texas.
I think I will be touring to a few salad bars for the next couple of weeks.
